About Titan MiningCommon questions
What does Titan's backfill contracting include?
It is a full turnkey operation: labour supply and supervision, paddock and backfill bag installation, and filling of the backfill bag — including all required HDPE pipes, flexible filling hoses, flushing systems, flocculant stations and communication systems.
How long has Titan Mining been doing backfill?
Since inception in 2001. Titan Mining has successfully carried out all backfill on the three shafts expediting backfill at Sibanye Gold.
Does Titan manufacture its own backfill bags?
Yes. Backfill bags, portable safety bags and tie-down straps are manufactured in-house at Titan's Randfontein facility, acquired in 2009, in the materials and sizes each operation requires.
How is spillage handled if a backfill bag bursts?
Titan's portable safety bag system contains the spillage without lines of backfill being skipped for permanent safety bag positions. Mud accumulators and spillage mats keep flushing water, mud and fines out of the cross cut.
Which areas does Titan work in?
Gold and hard-rock mines across Gauteng, North West, the Free State, Mpumalanga and the Northern Cape, operated from the Randfontein head office.
